Welcome To The Actually. . . blog

Welcome to Actually. . .

As we begin a new year, it feels like the right time to begin a new kind of conversation about leadership.

Welcome to our Leadership Actually blog — or, as we like to call it, just Actually . . .

Starting in January, we’ll be here every Monday and Friday to:

  • share stories,

  • reflect on lessons we’re learning,

  • offer insights into the practice of co-creative leadership, and

  • ask for your perspective.

We Resisted Doing a Blog — and Why

This first post almost didn’t happen.

For a long time, we weren’t sure about doing a blog at all. Until recently, our work has lived mainly in the small but profoundly important interactional spaces between people — not in sentences or punctuation marks, and certainly not online.

What Shifted

Since we began the Leadership Actually project, we’ve become much more attuned to moments in our everyday work and lives that we want to capture and share.

Little openings. Honest stumbles. Clearer ways of seeing. Quiet awakenings that might otherwise go unnoticed. New connections.

We’re asking ourselves — and each other — more often:

  • What about this?

  • What do you think about that?

  • Why do you think it happened?

Why Now

Aristotle said that teaching is the highest form of understanding — but we’ve discovered that writing comes pretty close.

As we try to put words to what we’re experiencing and noticing, we learn even more about what’s really there.

So this space is for gathering those things — for ourselves and to share with you — as we all practice leadership beyond the illusion.

So, again: welcome. Welcome to Actually . . .
